HOUSTON, May 24, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Pearland Ford, D.B.A Southern Ford is being sued by Rocky McCullough for discrimination. McCullough claims Southern Ford fired him because he has cancer.
"They hired me as General Manager in November of 2011 to run the dealership. In five months my team increased sales over 200%. In December I was diagnosed with cancer, by April they fired me," says McCullough. "I feel like they sent me home to die."
"This is a blatant violation of the Texas Labor Code," says McCullough's attorney Daniel Goforth of the Goforth Easterling law firm. "You can't just fire someone because they're sick. Rocky was battling colon cancer and still performing all his job duties while putting in 60 hours a week."
The lawsuit, filed in Harris County 125th District Court cites a violation of the Texas Labor Code, which prohibits an employer from discharging an employee on the basis of that employee's disability.
