Shutterfly, Inc.(NASDAQ:SFLY), the leading Internet-based social expression and personal publishing service, today announced that its charitable trust, the Shutterfly Foundation, awarded five $10,000.00 grants to organizations in the San Francisco Bay Area and Charlotte, North Carolina. The grants were presented to the recipients in local awards ceremonies earlier this month.

Shutterfly’s vision -- to make the world a better place by helping people share life’s joy -- was the inspiration for the company to create the Shutterfly Foundation in 2006. Its mission is to help organizations harness the power of sharing motivational stories. Through grants, the Shutterfly Foundation supports programs that focus on youth education and family wellness.

Shutterfly awarded three grants to organizations in the San Francisco Bay Area:

• The Bay Area Video Coalition seeks to bring increased cultural and economic participation to underserved communities through media. Shutterfly’s grant will support the “Factory”, the advanced, after-school video production training program for low-income, at risk youth in the Bay Area.
• Big Brother Big Sisters of the Bay Area is a leader in one-to-one youth mentoring services, cultivating and nurturing positive child-adult relationships that have a direct and lasting impact on the lives of young people. Shutterfly’s donation will help fund a student mentoring program at the Oakland Bridges Academy.
• Community School of Music and Arts (CSMA) at Finn Center is a non-profit provider of arts education programs that offers “Arts for All” regardless of age, level or economic means. Shutterfly’s grant will support CSMA’s arts-in-the-schools program “Arts in Action” at Costano Elementary School in East Palo Alto.

In Charlotte, North Carolina, Shutterfly awarded two grants to support general and operating expenses for the following organizations.

• City at Peace is an organization that empowers teenagers to create safe, healthy, peaceful lives and communities. The organization aims to develop the next generation of community leaders, providing them with the knowledge and perspectives necessary to imaginatively resolve any issue they face.
• Right Moves for Youth operates school-based clubs and neighborhood-based community clubs led by volunteers in the community to enhance academics, leadership skills, self esteem, civic responsibility and cultural awareness.
