Apple Inc. is preparing to launch an iPad tablet with a smaller screen than the current iPad, putting it closer to the size of rival Amazon.com Inc.'s Kindle Fire. The Wall Street Journal reports Apple's new iPad will have a screen smaller than 8 inches, smaller than the iPad's current 9.7-inch screen. Amazon's (NASDAQ: AMZN) rival Kindle Fire tablet has a screen of about 7 inches.
