Union Pacific Corporation (NYSE:UNP) reported first quarter of fiscal 2012 adjusted earnings of $1.79 per share, surpassing the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $1.64 as well as the year-ago earnings of $1.29. Better-than-expected earnings came on the back of increased prices and more cargo hauling despite weaker coal volumes.
