'Pop-Ed' Music News Video Debuts on Boston.com
Local artist Jake Brennan composes a new song every day based on the news of the day

Boston.com announces the debut of Pop-Ed, a daily music video based on the news of the day. Each day locally-acclaimed singer, musician and composer Jake Brennan will compose and perform the music video, which will be posted on Boston.com. Local radio station 92.9 WBOS will air the song each night during the 9 p.m. hour.

Brennan is a three-time winner of the Boston Music Awards.

The concept, developed by Boston.com and Brennan, also includes a blog written by Brennan with user interaction. Each day, visitors to the site can submit their own Pop-Ed lyrics for Brennan to consider. At the end of Pop-Eds first two-week run, Brennan will select one user-submitted verse to set to music. Visitors can also record and submit their own music videos, and provide feedback on Brennans daily performance.

In addition to airing that days song each night, WBOS will drive listeners to the Pop-Ed page on the Boston.com site. At the conclusion of the project Boston.com and WBOS will host a private concert featuring Brennan exclusively for Boston.com and WBOS users and listeners.

The daily Pop-Ed music video can be found online at http://www.boston.com/pop-ed.

The first installment of Boston.coms Pop-Ed runs now through May 18.
