NEW YORK, Sept. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Interns, Playboy's first mainstream online and mobile digital series, received min's 2009 Integrated Marketing Award for Print & Mobile at a ceremony held in New York last week. The min's Integrated Marketing Awards honors the campaigns, programs, and marketing innovators who have raised the bar on magazine marketing programs.
Interns, created by Swan Haus Media for Playboy Enterprises, aimed to promote got2b's Magnetick styling products to a targeted male audience. The humorous six-episode series which followed three Playboy marketing interns as they completed daily tasks, aired on Playboy's mobile website and iPhone Web apps from September to October 2008. The series integrated Magnetick product placement and messaging throughout by challenging the interns to generate word of mouth for got2b Magnetick, as well as create and produce a 15-second commercial that would resonate with Playboy's core audience, many of whom are heavy mobile platform users.
Interns elicited 1.8 million views on both the mobile and Internet platforms. Since launching on ideck, the series was named the #1 video download on AT&T. Its MySpace microsite provided 50 million impressions across its website. Interns totaled an estimated $750,000 in equivalent media value garnering media coverage from outlets such as the New York Times, Hollywood Reporter, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, and the Los Angeles Times. The series was hailed by media insiders as the first successful series on the mobile platform. Co-Founder of Swan Haus Media, Tommy Swanhaus said, "It is great to work with a brand that understands the necessity of using a multi-platform approach to reach and engage today's consumers, and this is one of the reasons why Playboy is a global icon."
